Takis A. Haggiandreou, Director Progressive InsuranceDear Friends,

As summer is arriving to its end and holidays will give place to school, we cannot avoid thinking about the safety issues relevant to public and private schools settings.

Many parents are concerned about additional safeguards in their children's school in order to avoid tragedies. Children's safety and health are matters of capital importance.

Very soon school will be starting and we all want our children to have a good start, a successful year and we want them to enjoy their year in school. But of course we want them every afternoon to return home safely.

As parents, we have the most important role to play in order to create the safest possible environment for our children in schools, in child care facilities and in the playgrounds. It is important to give sometime to consider and examine these issues.

In the accompanying article of our 19th Progressive Newsletter Back to school: Safety issues for children we provide you useful information and a checklist about important matters to watch.

Of course it is not possible to make completely disappear all possibilities for a hazard to happen. But we can do a lot to minimize to a great degree the chances that something wrong happens.

Preparing the children for returning back to the school, is an occasion to reexamine the related safety issues. Children's safety and health are capital issues for parents and they should be the first who should examine the situation relevant to their children and blow the whistle whenever necessary.
