Dear Friends,

Aggressive driving is any display of aggression by a driver. Road rage refers to the most violent events that result from disagreements between drivers.

The New York State Police define an aggressive driver as one who: "operates a motor vehicle in a selfish, bold or pushy manner, without regard for the rights or safety of the other users of the streets and highways."

Unfortunately numerous reports indicate that aggressive driving is on the rise. It seems that a relatively minor traffic event which turns into an aggressive driving incident may be the result of a series of stressful events in an individual's life which culminates in extreme violence.

Aggressive driving is a cause of death and injuries. The causes of the problem are many. Roads are crowded, the number of vehicles in the roads are increasing, people are busier, time is a precious good, and road congestion causes frustration.

However there are ways to face effectively the problem. There are ways to protect ourselves. We can avoid becoming victims of aggressive driving and road rage. In the same way we can contribute in making the road environment and traffic, safer for everybody.

You will find attached with our 31st monthly Progressive Newsletter an article Aggressive driving: What you should know relevant to this interesting issue.

We believe that you will find useful information that will help you and your family to better understand, avoid if possible and manage aggressive driving and road rage situations.

We all can contribute to a decrease and minimization of aggressive driving. Victims of this unfortunate situation will become less if we understand better why this occurs and how to handle situations of aggressive driving by not provoking, avoid confrontation and adaptation.
