Insurance Newsletter January 2012
An important prerequisite for success is planning. For achieving what we have set as our new year's resolutions we definitely need something more than planning. New research demonstrates that if we share our plans with others the chances for success are increasing significantly. Sharing and cooperating with our friends, family and colleagues provide more will, persistence, energy, power and resilience in our efforts for achieving our targets. Setting the targets is the relatively easy part. Many times we promise to ourselves that we will exercise more, eat healthier, lose those extra kilos, stop smoking, drink less alcohol, work more efficiently, build better networks and take better care of our family and friends. The difficult part is succeeding to implement these important behavior changes. What we usually forget is that these changes are not a time limited process but actually a new way of life that we need to adopt. Researchers have been exploring for many years the keys to making successful resolutions. Among others, a strong commitment to make a change, coping strategies for dealing with problems and monitoring progress are ingredients of a successful strategy. Read more about the road to successful resolutions in the article New year's resolutions: Share, plan and cooperate with your friends to achieve more that you will find attached with our 108th Progressive Insurance Newsletter. Last but not least, don't forget to reward yourselves when you achieve a resolution. Additionally don't waste precious energy and time for blaming in case of failures. Failures should be lessons for the next steps and the future in general. Persistence and resilience accompanied by the lessons learned from failures should drive the efforts for achieving new targets.
