In order to have great vacations, it is not only enough to find the right place to go and have the money for that. It as well imperative to plan well ahead so that you and your family can have a safe and healthy trip.

Although this statement sounds as a triviality, international research shows that many holiday makers and travelers, omit taking fundamental precautions relevant to travel insurance and their health.

Recent surveys showed that 40% of the travelers did not seek any medical advice before their trip abroad although they were going to high risk destinations such as Africa, Asia and Latin America.

In many countries in these continents, a variety of common activities including swimming or consuming drinks with ice cubes can be a source of contamination and a cause for the very common travelers diarrhea. Travelers diarrhea can be a source of significant troubles and can potentially spoil your precious holidays.

Vaccinations against hepatitis A and B are often forgotten although vaccinations are among the most effective measures to avoid travel related diseases.

The best thing you can do to protect yourself and your family from potential unexpected risks and events, is to be sure that you have a good and reliable travel insurance. Cover yourself and your family with medical insurance, accidental adverse events, emergency evacuation, baggage and personal effects insurance so that you will not regret its absence in case things do not follow your expectations.

Think much more about these necessary preconditions prior to trips abroad, especially if you have children, seniors or persons with any kind of disability or chronic disease with you.

Finally be careful to get what you pay for. Make your arrangements from well known reliable travel agents and insurance companies, explore the options offered, put the questions you think are necessary for you and do not commit your self before you are sure you understood well what you are paying for.

I am sure you will find interesting and useful information provided in our new article Departing for Holidays: Safety Tips which is included in our sixth monthly newsletter.

With these things in mind, let us not forget that it is now time for holidays. Do your planning ahead, prepare well and I wish you a happy, safe and healthy holiday.
