Takis A. Haggiandreou, Director Progressive InsuranceDear Friends,

Summer brings warm, longer days, plenty of time outdoors, holidays and swimming which is one of the most popular activities.

However we cannot avoid thinking about the multitude of perils associated with the sea and water sports in general. Nevertheless these risks are avoidable.

Applying some basic rules can save lives. Knowing what to do diminishes the chances that our precious holidays are spoiled or accidents may cause injuries or even deaths.

Would you cross a busy street without carefully watching left and right to see if there are coming cars that could harm you? We think everybody sensible would carefully watch prior to crossing the street.

In a similar manner why would go to the sea or pool, with your kids and not watch them all the time? Why would you go in the water after consuming alcohol? Why would go boating without your life vest?

The dangers are similar and the stakes are your life or those of your beloved persons and children. We therefore believe it is important to remind ourselves of some basic rules to apply carefully during the summer. You will find more interesting information in the accompanying article of our 18th Progressive Newsletter  Summer safety, swimming and boating

We hope that you will have a very nice, happy and safe summer. We wish you excellent holidays and we are sure you will take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves and your family.

Choosing where you are going to swim is important. You have to go to places that you know or that are suitable for swimmers without dangers unknown to you. Additionally you should have information about the depth of waters of the places you go.
