Takis A. Haggiandreou, Director Progressive InsuranceDear Friends,

I would like to thank you very much for your kind words of encouragement for our new service of information and education "The Progressive Insurance Newsletter".

Our goal is to bring to you useful and interesting information relevant to various insurance related issues. Additionally by presenting articles about prevention and safety for many life and property threatening situations, will provide knowledge which will offer protection and might be extremely useful, at difficult times.

Last month our topic was road safety and safer driving. This month we will look at another major cause of death and injuries. Fires remain a major cause of death, burns, injuries and property damage or loss of goods.

As many of you may know, the Great Fire of London in 1666 had a major impact on the development of insurance. By destroying 85% of the city's buildings and financially ruining most of its citizens, it tragically emphasized the need for protection from fire.

In our second monthly newsletter, we are including a very interesting article about Fire safety strategies and prevention at home. We believe that by learning the elements of prevention against home fire and by adopting simple but effective methods, we can protect ourselves our family and property from the peril of fire.

We do hope you will find this interesting and we would be pleased to know your thoughts or experience.

It is important to have an escape plan in case of fire. Families who create and practice a fire escape plan, have much more chances to avoid a tragedy if a fire happens at their house. Everybody in the family should know what to do when a smoke alarm starts
