The Progressive Insurance
Newsletter May 2005 Making the lives of citizens healthier and safer is a priority of all governments. Quality of life depends on many factors including economical welfare, health, security, education and other rights that have to be constantly safeguarded against the never ending perils that arise. Safety of food and other products, consumers rights and the protection of people's health are constantly a matter of concern. In this quickly evolving field many unknowns exist and many new issues arise. Food safety and nutrition, is a subject of prime interest and concern of the wider public. The debate about genetically modified food and feed has created a lot of controversies. Additionally the issue of organic versus non organic crops adds to the overall complexity of the actual situation. How dangerous if at all, are these newcomers to our nutrition? How can we make the difference? What is their impact to our health? Is the debate solely scientific or are there hidden financial considerations that influence the discussions? These are questions frequently asked but rarely clearly answered. You will find more useful information and further bibliographical resources in the article Quality of life: Organic and non organic foods of our 27th monthly Progressive Newsletter that me and my colleagues believe that you will find interesting.
